We are the first, most experienced and most comprehensive ACPA certified cleft lip and palate team in the state of Idaho.
We were organized in 2001, and we currently treat over 500 children who travel to see us not only from the entire state of Idaho but from all parts of the country (As they prefer our team to those that might be closer to their home).
Your visit with our team will be convenient for you, comprehensive for your child and low in cost.
Our cleft team is fully independent from any health care system or hospital so we have the ability to see your child for 1/10th the cost charged by other University or hospital system based teams.
We schedule between 20 and 25 children each cleft team divided into three separate block times. When you arrive for your visit you have the convenience of being in one room for the entire clinic then each provider or provider group will enter your room to evaluate your child’s needs. During your visit (Which usually last less than 90 minutes) your child will be seen by multiple specialists including pediatric plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, dental hygiene, neuropsychology, speech therapy, pediatric audiology and a pediatric otolaryngologist. Once we have seen all the children on a given day, the team specialists then conference together to review notes and discuss your child’s needs so that we can provide the very best care without delay in an organized and coordinated way so that your child has the very best results with the fewest operations. Our team assessment and goals for your child are then sent to you in a letter with an organized to-do list for you. We send a similar letter to your child’s primary care provider. Our cleft team coordinator then keeps track of each patient to make sure each item gets done (Such items might include a follow-up audiology exam, a follow-up dental visit for additional sealants or treatment, a specialized speech study including a speech video fluoroscopy or nasal endoscopy (if the patient is struggling with hypernasal speech), a follow-up neuropsychology evaluation, a sleep study if there are any indications for obstructive sleep apnea, or orthodontic treatment that is specifically designed for children with cleft lip and palate related orthodontic issues).
The overall goal of our team is to provide the very best care that is carefully coordinated. We want your child to undergo the fewest number of surgeries as possible and have the very best outcome.
